Open Letter to Sarah Palin, Self Described Pit Bull with Lipstick

Thank you Sarah Palin for being such a beautiful pit bull. I love the analogy of the Hockey Mom as a pit bull with lipstick. My little sweet wonderful pit bull dog has been unfairly discriminated against. He is banned from many cities, we cannot go to Denver without fear of death without a trial. Maybe now he will get the true respect he deserves. I also like the fact that wearing glasses as a fashion statement will be back in style now that I have to wear them. Thank you for that. I also liked the whole librarian angle that is emerging.

What I noticed most with your speech last night was the absence of any of your personal beliefs. Yes, you proved you could be a formidable candidate, an engaging and humorous attack dog, but what was lacking was your belief that creationism should be taught in schools. That abstinence should be taught instead of sex education. That a woman should be forbidden from choice even in the cases of rape and incest. And yet you rejected funding in Alaska for teenage pregnant girls who do not have the advantage of family support as your daughter does. It was quite heroic of you to stand for families with special needs children and yet I remember when I worked in the field of developmentally disabled adults. The halls of Carmel House in Boulder was filled with folks who had been abandoned by their families because they could not manage or afford care for them or didn't want them and then the facility was shut down because the state cut the funding. Will you guarantee funding as an advocate?

I am looking forward to one-on-one interviews with you in the coming weeks to hear how you answer some of the discrepancies in your personal preferences and your actions as governor of Alaska. So far you have been sheltered, protected and allowed to comment on the "media elite" for digging into your past and your record. I would like to see you interviewed by any one of the following: Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Cynthia McFadden, Meridith Viera or maybe you could be on "The View". Whatever you decide, Gov. Palin, I am looking forward to seeing the "real" you. Thank you.
